Data Center Construction, Grid Expansion

New data center construction alongside substation expansion east of Columbus.

Ohio’s suburban fringe east of Columbus is being quietly transformed. Large windowless buildings are going up on land that was cornfields two years ago, each surrounded by new substation infrastructure and the distinctive hum of cooling systems audible from the road.

The load these facilities represent is substantial enough that the local utility is actively expanding the transmission network to serve them. New lines. New switching gear. A visible feedback loop between compute demand and physical grid investment.

The buildings don’t announce what they are. The substation outside is the tell.
