I work on climate, energy, and industrial policy.
I write about the constraints and trade-offs shaping decarbonization, industrial strategy, and geopolitics.
In the data
PUMP PRICE VS EV ADOPTION, 2025
EU petrol prices range from 1.34 EUR/L (Malta) to 2.39 EUR/L (Netherlands). Price alone does not predict adoption: Belgium and Ireland reach 44% and 34% EV share at mid-range pump prices, while high-price Germany sits at 6%. Policy design and purchase incentives are stronger determinants than fuel price.
